The Meteorological Bureau's Traffic Weather Visibility Monitoring Station is a network of multiple monitoring stations along the highway. It automatically collects data on visibility, weather phenomena, and other information, transmitting it in real-time to the monitoring center. This data provides a reference for traffic control and allows for timely issuance of warnings in severe weather, effectively ensuring highway driving safety.

The Meteorological Bureau's Traffic Weather Visibility Monitoring Station is a multi-element automatic monitoring system specifically designed for highway traffic safety management. The system consists of several visibility monitoring stations networked along the highway, automatically monitoring visibility and current weather phenomena. The monitoring stations promptly transmit the collected information to the monitoring center for reference by the traffic control system. In severe weather conditions, timely warnings are issued, informing management personnel and drivers in various ways.

Regarding technical parameters, the Meteorological Bureau's Traffic Weather Visibility Monitoring Station has a visibility range of 10km and a resolution of 1m. The error is no more than ±2% within a range ≤2km, no more than ±5% within a range of 2km to 10km, and no more than ±10% beyond a range of 10km. The repeatability error does not exceed 4%. The system can identify weather phenomena including fog, rain, snow, mixed precipitation, and clear skies, with a weather phenomenon recognition rate exceeding 95%. The monitoring station operates in a temperature range of -40 to 60℃ and a humidity range of 0 to 100%RH, using a 12 to 24V power supply with a power consumption of only 1W.

In practical applications, meteorological departments in various regions have successively deployed traffic meteorological monitoring facilities along highways. The Dongsheng District Meteorological Bureau has built an intelligent highway traffic meteorological station on the Dongsheng section of the G65 Baomao Expressway, capable of simultaneously observing and collecting data on nine elements in real time: air temperature, dew point temperature, relative humidity, wind direction, wind speed, road surface temperature, rainfall, visibility, and pavement conditions. The Akqi County Meteorological Bureau, in conjunction with the traffic police brigade, has completed the deployment of a traffic meteorological station on the G219 National Highway, providing data support for traffic management departments to conduct road control and traffic guidance. The Huiyang District Meteorological Bureau of Huizhou City, Guangdong Province, has newly built two visibility meters, effectively filling the gap in visibility observation in the region.

Furthermore, the meteorological bureau's traffic meteorological visibility monitoring station boasts excellent scalability, allowing for the addition of integrated weather stations (temperature, humidity, wind, pressure, and rainfall), laser remote sensing road condition detectors, and other equipment to meet diverse user needs and enable multi-element meteorological observations. The system comes standard with GPRS wireless transmission and supports both solar and mains power supply options. Through a cloud platform, users can directly view real-time and historical data using their mobile phones or PC browsers, with features including SMS alerts, threshold settings, data curve analysis, and data export. The widespread application of this system has effectively improved driving safety on highways under adverse weather conditions.
